Iridium launches Beam developed Iridium GO! exec™

  • Iridium officially launches the Iridium GO! exec™, a smart satellite companion for smart devices

Beam Communications Holdings Ltd (ASX: BCC) (“Beam” or the “Company”) a leading developer and distributor of mobile satellite terminals, devices and accessories, is pleased to announce that Iridium Communications Inc (Nasdaq: IRDM) (“Iridium”) has launched the Iridium GO! exec, developed in partnership with Beam.

Beam was selected as the OEM partner to develop this exciting new product, which is an innovative and portable satellite hotspot. The Iridium GO! exec is a premium product designed for professionals seeking reliable connectivity at 40x faster download and 10x faster upload speeds as compared to the original Iridium GO!®. The device connects to smartphones, tablets and laptops over Wi-Fi, and supports high quality voice calling, data services, SOS, and social media, office, chat apps, and more through an IP connection.

In partnership with Iridium, Beam developed the original Iridium GO!® that was launched globally in 2014. The Company has received orders for a total of 67,500 Iridium GO! units – a significant increase from the initial minimum order commitment of 5,000 and this product continues to be a successful part of Iridium’s portfolio.

Based on initial demand and the strong historic sales that have been achieved for the Iridium GO!, Beam anticipates orders for the Iridium GO! exec to exceed the initial A$20 million minimum commitment from Iridium.  The Iridium GO! exec will be positioned as a premium solution in the Iridium GO! product range while the original Iridium GO! will remain a key part of Iridium’s product suite and will continue to be offered alongside the Iridium GO! exec.
